COMET Community Meeting – April 2026
📝 Event Description
The COMET (Collaborative Metadata Enrichment Taskforce) Community Meeting brings together researchers, infrastructure developers, and open science advocates to advance community-led metadata enrichment using trusted, persistent identifiers. During the April meeting, two developments will be presented that, together, illustrate the COMET model in practice.
The first presentation introduces posters.science, a free and open-source platform being developed by our team to extract rich, structured metadata from scientific posters to make them FAIR and AI-ready. COMET will collaborate on this project to bring enriched poster metadata into DataCite DOI records, building on the recent release of DataCite Metadata Schema version 4.7, which introduces "poster" as a supported resource type.
The second presentation features the DataCite product team walking through DataCite's new enrichment layer with a live example, covering its data model, provenance values, additive design, and available API endpoints.
More information and registration are available on the COMET website. Register directly via the Zoom registration link.
💡 Our Role / Contribution
Bhavesh Patel will co-present with Jamey O'Neill a talk introducing posters.science, a platform designed to address the inconsistencies in how scientific poster metadata is captured, improving their discoverability and attribution by making them FAIR and AI-ready.
